A Few Pointers On E-Book Reader Selection

There are a lot of reviews of e-book readers available on the internet today. You will also find them in newspapers and magazines from time to time. It’s a reflection of the fact that e-book readers have really taken off – driven to a large extent by Amazon’s release of the Kindle 2.0 in February of 2009. Today there are plenty of e-book readers to choose from and a lot of people are looking for help in order to make a buying decision.

A lot of reviews, quite naturally perhaps, have a very strong focus on the hardware – the Kindle screen is this size, the Sony Daily Edition screen is that size, this one has touch screen controls, that one has no wireless, and so forth. Which is all well and good, but if you’re buying your first e-book reader then in all probability you will be making a mental comparison not between different e-book readers but between e-book readers and “real” books.

Firstly, to put your mind at ease, a recent survey of American e-book reader owners found that four out of five of them prefer to use their electronic devices rather than to read a “real” book. Based on that sort of feedback, it doesn’t look as though those who have changed from paper to electronic books regret that decision in any way. It appears that handling hefty paper volumes is not an attractive prospect for those who have experienced e-book readers.

The display is one of the key things that you should consider when selecting your e-book reader. Assuming that the main purpose of your e-book reader is to read books, as opposed to surfing the web or watching video, you will certainly want to go for a reader which has an e-ink technology display. These really are very much like reading normal text printed on normal paper – much more so than reading on a backlit computer screen. They also require very much less power and this means you can go for a long time between charges. When you turn the page, the screen will flicker and go black very briefly. This is not a big problem. In the beginning you will notice it because it is something new but, after just a couple of reading sessions, you will be completely unaware of it.

Another important factor to take into account is the layout of the controls and the overall usability. The Amazon Kindle controls for example, are very well laid out and easy to use. It’s simple to operate the Kindle with only one hand, something that makes it ideal for use on a crowded bus or train, or just sitting propped up in bed. Sony’s Daily Edition reader features touch screen controls – but this comes at the expense of a slightly lower quality display as today’s touch screen technology is not completely transparent and also requires the use of a screen which is a little more reflective.

Finally, do not jump to the conclusion that e-book prices are the same across all readers. A recent study, performed by the New York Times, showed that there were significant differences in the price of books across different e-book reader models. The difference in certain cases was so large that someone who reads an average of a book each week could save enough money to pay for the e-book reader in the space of a year – and still have a few dollars left over to buy books. Clearly book pricing is changeable – so be certain to check the average price of e-books for whichever reader you are considering buying.

Should You Be Considering About Twitter As An Integral Piece Of Your MLM Marketing Blueprint?

If you have recently joined a network marketing organization, you might find yourself thinking a lot about MLM marketing tactics that can work to build your business. Not only are you looking for ways to sell more products, but you are also looking for ways to recruit more people into your downline to increase your own income in the future.

Twitter should be a starting point for your MLM marketing plan. A lot of people are scared of the technology when their is really no reason to be worried. The numbers of people not using the technology is amazing. You need to forget everything you think you know about social media. No longer is it only a place to reconnect to with old friends and keep family up to date with pictures of your life. In order to succeed in the MLM business, you need to build a brand for yourself and Twitter is a great place to start.

Twitter is not for just small businesses and individuals anymore, as many large corporate companies are getting in on the action. Don’t you think that their is a huge reason that these companies are investing in this social media avenue for a reason. The biggest thing you need to do is be sure you are not using Twitter the wrong way.

For example, if the only thing you ever tweet about is the business opportunity, people get very tired of hearing it. They feel like they’re being sold to and they actually shut down to hearing your message. You want to be very mindful that you should post useful information that people want to know about before you start posting about your business opportunity. For example, if you have seen an interesting news story, even if it has nothing to do with your business, post a link to it so that other people can enjoy getting that information. Once they begin to trust that you are there to provide quality information and interact with them on a human level, they will be more open to hearing about your opportunity.

One of the best places to start on Twitter is by finding and connecting with some of the top leaders in your industry. Follow what they are putting out and learn from their blueprint they are using. They never pitch anything. They are always providing value and continually branding themselves. Follow their lead and you will find that Twitter can be a valuable part of your MLM marketing plan.

SMTP Settings for Your Laptop Email Program

SMTP servers are now the standard tool for sending email across networks. The average client user will only use SMTP for sending messages to the mail service, where they are then relayed o the SMTP server or other mail agents that send and receive the mail message.

The meaning of SMTP is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. When you send the a message through a mail client such as Microsoft Outlook, the SMTP will send the message to another server, and then an IMAP or POP client will retrieve the mail. That’s why when you configure your email applications you’ll usually have to add both the SMTP server as well as the IMAP or POP server.

For obvious reasons (such as it comes included in Windows), Microsoft has the most popular, and free, SMTP server on the market. The free SMTP server supports all email programs that are written for windows, however Microsoft’s Outlook and Outlook Express are best suited. Most users are able to setup and use the included SMTP server pretty quickly and it has become a proven, reliable server.

Having a mobile SMTP will enable you to take your personal email with you wherever you go. You’ll be able to keep the same configuration for your mailbox as well as retain all your messages. Microsoft Outlook Express sort of acts like a mobile mail service as well, because wherever you go, you can access your mailbox, or multiple mailboxes, and retain the same settings.

There are many free SMTP services that one could choose from. GMAIL, HotPop and GMX are but a few of them, with Google’s GMAIL service being currently the most popular.

There are wonderful free-for-service SMTP email service providers like GMX, HotPoP and Gmail. The highest acclaimed is Gmail because of its incredible efficiency and dependability. Gmail is also very efficient in blocking spam. You can access most of these SMTP services free of charge.

The Thunderbird client is easy to set up, and partnered with a GMAIL SMTP account, the user has a free and easy to use email setup. There really isn’t a need these days for someone who needs an email account to have to pay for such a service, with so many out there being free!

Three Bad Star Wars Games To Ignore

Even though the Star Wars movies and books have mass appeal, some of the video games fall flat on their face. Let us look at three of the worst Star Wars games.

Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes

This is a really bad game. It is so bad that the game might freeze on you and you will have to reset it and start again from the beginning. The game also has too many bugs in it.

The game controls are just as bad as the glitches. You have the ability to do a double jump. In normal video games the double jump makes your life easier. But in this game it works against you.

The light saber is always a fan favorite and in this game you can throw it at a bunch of enemies to take them down quickly. But the fighting gets boring quickly. Skip this game at all cause.

Star Wars: Yoda Stories

This point and click game looks really basic and the animation is left at a minimum. The game is also very boring.

There is no music in the background. There are sound effect, though, and every now and then you will hear a short amount of music when you collect an item.

Fighting in this game is not interesting at all. You swing your light saber at your enemy and it looks pretty mediocre.

Do not even play this game if you are bored.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The graphics in this game are very good and you get to play with different characters in the Star Wars saga. The story also is very entertaining if you are a fan.

When it comes to fighting, you will use the light saber to take down your enemies. The fighting is fun to look at.

Having the force implemented in the fighting system was a good idea, but the fighting still gets boring pretty quickly.

The true die hard fans might like this game but the casual gamer will not.

Your best bet is to stay away from these video games just reviewed as they will lose you time and money.

3 Guitar Hero Games Reviewed

With so many Guitar Hero games available it is hard to choose a good one. Let us look at three of them who came out not too long ago.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

If you are an Aerosmith fan and you like Guitar Hero then this is the right game for you. Granted, nothing new has been added. You still get the same features and options. The music, as you can imagine, is all from Aerosmith.

You have access to all the regular options, like multi player and the same menu as the previous games. There are a good amount of unlockables that give more replay value to the game, like cool guitars.

Some people will look at this game as a filler for the next installment of Guitar hero games. But a lot of time and energy went in to the game to capture the look and feel of Aerosmith.

Guitar Hero 5

Because the game mechanics where so good from the beginning, it is hard to come with new games that will bring the genre to new heights. That is why we only see a modest amount of updates each game.

Guitar Hero 5 has made the game more presentable to the regular gamer. It is easy to jump in and start jamming on your guitar.

One new cool addition to the game play is that there are bonus challenges that you can complete during your jam session to unlock cool items.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen

If you like the band specific Guitar Hero games then this game is a must have for your game collection. This game focuses on Van Halen, and you get to jam with them. How cool is that.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen does not bring any new additions to the presentation or game play. What it does bring to the table is one of the best bands of all time. You get to relive all the cool songs like Panama and Jump.

The game is great. The animation and graphics of the characters is nicely done and everything comes together very nicely. If you are a fan of Van Halen you need to play this game.

Looking for a good game to play, then you cannot go wrong with the ones just discussed. Just do not expect anything revolutionary.
