2.       Great Plains Installation, Data Conversion, Initial User Training and switch over to production mode.  If you are on small business or legacy ERP or Accounting system: QuickBooks, MAS 90, Peach Tree, Accpac, Oracle Financials, Sage, Great Plains Accounting for DOS or Windows, JD Edwards, People Soft, and if you are upgrading or moving away to Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains, we would like to recommend directions.  In you are on Quick Books, there is migration tool available, it should migrate your chart of accounts, customers, vendors, AR and AP invoices Sales and Purchasing transactions.  The same is true if you are on GPA for DOS (where migration tool is proven over the years and is doing almost all the objects transfer).  For the rest of you, we recommend to export existing chart of accounts, customers, vendors, and period beginning balances, import these objects to Great Plains Dynamics GP and by doing this start new year or new fiscal period (month for example).  We do not really recommend you to consider historical data migration, until it is absolutely necessary – instead you could keep your legacy ERP system available for inquiry and reporting purposes only

1.       Great Plains Customization.  If your business is very traditional and could be characterized within established industry, then we do not recommend you to undergo custom Great Plains programming – instead try to setup existing GP modules to do the job.  However we expect that large number of mid-size and small businesses are unique and require Great Plains Dexterity Add-ons programming, or legacy Dex customization upgrade and recovery
