4. Start a blog and use it for both business and pleasure. Blogging is a great way to make money on the Internet as well as let people know what is going on in your life. Whereas Twitter.com is micro blogging having a blog of your own is a great way to expand on these shorter blog posts.

5. It is important to keep your home life separate from your work life. Create a home office where you can go and get your work done and not be interrupted. Make it known that when you are in your office you are there to work and not to be disturbed by outside influences. Insure that people know you have a real work at home job and you are serious about your business.

6. Continue to educate yourself. Continuing education in a work from home environment is a key initiative to having a real work at home job. There are many free courses available to you on the internet that will assist you in staying motivated, attaining the goals you have set and assisting you with time management.

In summary, this is six working from home tips that will help you be more productive in a real work at home job situation. In addition, these six working from home tips will help to insure that you make more money at the same time. Working from home is becoming more common today and the majority of the people who are successful at it follow these six tips.

Twitter might be Godsend to some, but it does not hold all the answers. Yes, micro blogging can be very addicting and fun, but that is precisely the trouble with Twitter. I’m sure a lot of teachers, parents, employers and maybe even spouses around the world agree with me on this one.

Twitter is known as the SMS of the Internet due to the limited amount of characters you can send to an exclusive group of followers. Still, that does not diminish the appeal of this social media one bit.

Here are some issues about Twitter to watch out for.

Trouble # 1 with Twitter: It’s virtually irresistible.

Many Twitter users admit that checking their Twitter account is one of the first things they’ll check when they turn their computer on.

While this does not exactly pose a problem when you’re at home, it is a different matter when you’re at work. Some companies have actually restricted Twitter sites on their employees’ computers because it hinders workflow.

Instead of composing filing documents into their respective folders, employees are twittering on their computers – maybe even twittering that they’re filing documents and then forgetting about actually doing it all together.

There’s nothing wrong with using Twitter. Just keep it in moderation, and not when you have a list of other more important tasks to attend to.

Trouble # 2 with Twitter: It’s a poor replacement.

Twitter also has a nasty habit of taking over meaningful conversations and reducing them to 140 characters.

Sure, it’s instant messaging in an attractive package, but Twittering thank you messages to the friends who attended your wedding is not the same as sending them thank you cards. In fact, it’s almost an insult to use Twitter to deal with such personal expressions of gratitude.

Sending Twitter messages to dear friends can be fun, but don’t use it to take care of personalized special messages.

Trouble # 3 with Twitter: It cannot promote your business single-handedly.

More and more people are using Twitter these days, but that doesn’t mean you can rely on it to single-handedly market and advertise your business for you. While Twitter marketing can be effective for your business, it cannot stand alone.  

It needs the support of other means of marketing and advertising. According to CEO of Zappos.com Tony Hsieh (via Copy Blogger), they do find Twitter an advantage to their business but they don’t necessarily use it for “driving immediate sales.”

Twitter helps spread the word around through followers – and can be extremely profitable as a marketing tool – but it should not be the sole backbone of your business.

The trouble with Twitter is that it is sometimes being used in unproductive ways. But as long as you know its limitations and proper usage, you can achieve amazingly profitable and productive results with Twitter.

In the first part of this series of 10 articles I explained the differences between GPS Navigation Systems and GPS Tracking Systems, and how they are two completely different of implementations of Location Based Services. In this second article I will develop some additional concepts related to the elements that constitute a GPS Tracking System. There are 3 main parts to a GPS Tracking System:

– A GPS device or GPS Tracker, which receives the location information and then delivers it to a software application.

– A data transmission system, which takes the information provided by the GPS Tracker, and delivers it to the software application.

– A Software Application, which presents to its users the data recollected by the GPS Tracker in several formats including maps and reports.

This article will present the main components of a GPS Tracking Solution, and will start expanding on the first component: gps Trackers. It will take me this article and the next one to go in detail over GPS devices.

GPS Devices

In this section I will define what a GPS Device, and how they work; after that I will present the types of GPS Trackers, including most of the features that these devices offer, and my opinion in regards to each type.

At its simplest definition, the GPS device, or better the GPS tracker, is the component in charge of receiving the information about the location of the vehicle, and providing this data to the GPS Tracking Application through the Data Transmission System (which will be explained in coming articles). GPS Trackers are usually small boxes (metal or plastic) that can be the size of a man’s wallet, or a little bigger. All of them need at least one antenna (GPS antenna), and most of them need an additional antenna to enable the data transmission module. So this leads to a first classification of GPS Trackers:

-Full satellite trackers. This type of trackers will use satellites to receive and transmit data.

-Hybrid trackers. This type of trackers will use satellites to acquire location (we will see some variations here later in this article), and another method to transmit the data (a data modem, a data port to download the data, etc).

On the next article I will expand on these concepts.

So, the main task of a GPS Tracker is to provide information of the location of a vehicle or an asset, or a person. The location of the units is usually acquired from the GPS satellites, but there is another method based on triangulation with cell towers to calculate locations. Getting the location from satellites is the most accurate mechanism, providing a minimal margin of error most of the times (from 2 up to 50 feet). GPS location can be acquired anywhere in the world. The only down side for this location technology is that the GPS antenna has to have a view to the sky. For example, if the vehicle gets into a garage, most probably there will not be GPS locations available.

Getting the location based on a triangulation with the cell towers (those that are also used by our cell phones to transmit voice and data) has a bigger margin of error (up to a few hundred feet), making it a not very accurate location mechanism. This type of location also requires the presence of the named cell towers to work. The upside of this mechanism is that it will perfectly work within buildings, which is not the case for GPS satellite location. Some GPS Trackers are designed to work with both location mechanisms, creating a new concept called Assisted GPS (AGPS).

There are mainly three types of GPS Trackers: Passive Trackers, PING Trackers, and Live Trackers. Also, there are some GPS Trackers that have more features than other – not just a location of the vehicle.

In this article I have dissected a GPS Tracking solution into three main components: a GPS Tracker, a data transmission system, and a GPS Tracking application. I have also started exposing the details of GPS Trackers, specifically the two main ways to locate a vehicle. Finally, I introduced two more elements to consider in GPS Trackers: types of trackers and advanced features of a GPS device.

Gadgets are also available for windows vista desktop, Google desktop and the personal home page of windows live and iGoogle, these gadgets are known as widgets. Widgets are mini application that mostly used in the windows environment such as computer desktop or personal home page. These widgets provide countless functions that include customized news and stock quotes, calendar, dictionary lookups, cartoons and games

Gadgets are light-weight single-purpose applications that execute on user’s computer desktop or laptops. It will be possible for the different types of gadgets to run on different environments without modification. Some time these gadgets are called widgets.
The term gadget was first employed by the developers of Amiga OS. Widgets provides fully graphical user interface to control all elements.
Types of gadgets:
Web gadgets – gadgets which run on a web site.

Sidebar gadgets – run on the desktop or run on the                       Windows Sidebar.

SideShow gadgets – run on secondary external displays, such as on the outside of a laptop or even on an LCD panel in a keyboard, and potentially mobile phones and other devices.

Web Gadgets:
Web gadgets run on Web sites such as technologyb2b.com. Today’s most of the web sites stuck gadgets on their web pages to attract users. Web gadgets are mini-applications that can use for many purposes like E-mail reading or sending, weather reports, slide shows, search, games etc. With the help of gadgets you can create multiple site tabs and customize each with different feeds, gadgets, layouts, and color schemes.

Desktop gadgets
Desktop gadgets are also called desktop widgets. Widgets are small specific applications that are usually designed to do simple tasks, such as clocks, calendars, search tools etc. Desktop gadgets can also be used to control external applications such as Windows Media Center sidebar is found on either the right side or the left side of the
Windows; you can easily see these gadgets in Windows Vista operating system. Basically
Gadgets are placed on the sidebar of window or can also be placed elsewhere on the screen according to your facility they are automatically aligned.

SideShow gadgets
SideShow gadgets mostly used in laptops, netbooks, cell phones or even on LCD panel in a keyboard. Windows SideShow is a new technology that lets Windows Vista drive auxiliary, small displays of various form-factors where ready-access to bite-size bits of information could be represented. Today’s laptops mostly include these SideShow gadgets you can see it on the outside of a laptops, you can access the information and media even when the main system is in a standby mode. Data can also be displayed on cell phones and other network-connected devices via Bluetooth and other connectivity options.
