Market research IDC Company published a report, Google Android will roll up like a mat in smart phones market, and its growth speed will surpass all the competitors.
According to IDC report, from now to 2013, Android will be the wireless operating system with fastest growth speed and jump to the global second. Currently, Nokia Symbian smart operating system enjoys the widest popularity, closely followed by Blackberry Research in Motion (RIM) and Apple iPhone.
There is a little difference of rank in the American market. RIM is the most popular smart phone system; Apple comes off second best; the third is Microsoft Windows Mobile. However, Nokia Symbian merely accounts for a very tiny market share.
But IDC predicted, to 2013, the growth of Android will exceed all the rivals; as for the global rank, and it will also replace RIM and defeat Apple and jump to the second place. The main reason of this change is that more hardware dealers launched mobile phones adopting Android system. In 2009, Motorola, HTC and Samsung released several new Android mobile phones, furthermore, there will be more new mobile phone appearing in the market, increase the sales volume. Motorola has planed to launch at least 10 new Android mobile phones in this first half year.
IDC analyst Stephen Drake thought, a great many Android OS equipments will bring saltatory growth. A big advantage of Android superior to other rivals is that it can be used in massive brands’ hardware. RIM and Apple operating systems can only be carried on their own brand mobile phones. Drake said, although there are lots of operating systems, manufacturer who lack of self-owned software, opportunity is quite limited.
The reason of Android system growing rapidly is that the cost-free open source will appeal more and more cellphone manufacturers; nevertheless, TIM and Apple just adopt their own operating system in their self-owned brand phones. Microsoft Windows Mobile also permits cellphone manufacturers to use, but it need to charge authorization fees; moreover, Windows Mobile 7 delays launching, which will make manufacturers more inclined to Android.
According to IDC prediction, to 2013, the shipments of global smart phones will achieve 390 million; CAGR will reach 20.9 percent from 2009 to 2013. Symbian will continue to be front runner of smart phones market, outside of American market, Symbian will take the lead in other competitors.
