The iPod is probably the greatest piece of technology that has ever been invented by the electronics company Apple. They are responsible for quite a few great pieces of technology such as sleek looking desktop computers, the MacBook and even their latest device, the iPad. Even with all those great devices under their belt, the iPod is probably the most popular and best selling item that they have on the market. There are currently six generations of iPods that have been manufactured by Apple at the time of this writing, along with different types of iPods to boot.
The very first and probably still the most popular iPod is the iPod Classic. The iPod Classic has an absolutely enormous amount of storage space due to its 160GB (gigabyte) storage capacity. What that basically means, is that you can keep around 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video, around 25,000 pictures, or a massive combination of all three types of media. You can also buy games, movies, television shows and podcasts for your iPod and synchronize them to watch or play them anywhere. The classic Click Wheel is standard on all iPods and helps make navigation so much easier and convenient. The iPod Classic also boasts a 2.5 inch color screen and an extremely long battery life of up to 36 hours.
The iPod Nano is competing with the iPod Classic for being the most popular and best selling iPod if it is not already. Apple’s newest version of the iPod Nano has its own claim to fame because it now boasts a video camera and microphone built right in, so now you will be able to capture those video-worthy moments right when they happen. The iPod Nano can be bought in 8GB or 16GB models and are naturally a bit smaller so they can fit just about anywhere. The new iPods Nano now features a pedometer and synchronization with a type of Nike shoes to allow for a supreme workout partner. Up to 2,000 or 4,000 songs, 8 to 16 hours of video or 7,000 to 14,000 photos can be stored, how much depends on the model of iPod Nano you get.
The most technologically advanced type of iPod that Apple has to its name, has got to be the iPod Touch. The iPod touch is essentially the same thing as any other type of iPod, having music storing capabilities, but the iPod Touch is essentially a computer as well. A 3.5 inch multi touch screen allows for easy and fun navigation through the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch can be bought in either an 8GB model, 32GB model or 64GB models to allow for different storage capacities. There is also Wi-Fi built right in meaning that you can connect to the Internet with an iPod Touch in certain instances. The iPod Touch is loaded with all sorts of cool features, Apps (applications) and cool little enhancements.
The three types of iPods listed above are the money makers in Apple’s iPod business. There is one more type of iPod known as the iPod shuffle which is the cheapest type of iPod. There is no screen on the iPod Shuffle and it shuffles all the music on it, so if those two things do not bother you and you are looking for something cheap, then go with the iPod Shuffle.
