I had spent a great deal of time investigating my internet connection and my internet speed problem before I came to the understanding that it was not my Internet Service Provider’s problem but that my computer was the fault. So I had two problems – a sluggish DSL and computer.
What made this decision more difficult was that I seemed to have more problems when there had been a lot of rain and the ground was very drenched. My DSL cable comes onto the property underground. And it always seemed that after a big shower our service would be out completely or pretty slow. What I discovered was that this problem only made my condition worse, but was not the worst culprit.
The ISP determined that they did have a situation and straightened it out. I think it was at a “box” out next to the road that wasn’t water proof as it should have been and was holding water after a hard rain. Now phone wires get wet all the time but, if I understand it correctly, the water was a conductor to a small extent between wires at the connection box.
However, this wasn’t only the issue when things were wet but I was having issues throughout dry spells – and we certainly had a great deal of very dry weather conditions. It became obvious that my PC was not performing up to what it should be. One way of knowing this was that another computer in the home, although older and less power, was doing OK.
After trying a new computer virus application and even a new mal-ware program and that didn’t help much, I looked to the windows registry in my sluggish computer. The registry cleaner found in excess of eight-hundred errors and removed them.
Honestly, I still had a small problem with slow start-up — but the registry cleaning really helped. It is simple, quick and I can certainly vouch for it to anyone.
