If humans were to go extinct, which species would have the best chance to develop intelligence, sentience, and technology after we are gone.
I would have to say the octopus. They are already fairly intelligent, and have “arms” to build tools.
If they can leave the sea and somehow able to adapt to live on land, they would have great potential to become a technologically dominant species.
