The Consumer Electronics Show for 2010 just ended recently and the latest in laptop computer technologies have all been introduced. The new things include new faster hard drive storage options, faster memory, faster processors and faster USB transfer ports.
At the convention all the top names in laptop computers Dell, HP, Sony, ASUS etc. all showed off what they could do with the new technologies available to them. But what is the best you can have for all the core parts that matter to your new laptop computers performance.
Processor
Intel is by far the leader in mobile computing when it comes to high performance processors. If you thought the Intel Core 2 Duo processors were fast just wait till you get your hands on the new Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 mobile processors. All of these processors use Intels new 32nm technology and feature the latest in battery saving technologies. These new chips are going to be available to you as soon as the end of January.
Memory
The new DDR3 memory sticks are fast and can operate twice as fast as the aging DDR2 memory technology, don’t even bother comparing DDR to DDR3 when it comes to speed. This new memory is needed because the new Intel Core i chips motherboards only can read DDR3. DDR3 memory prices fluctiate just as much as DDR2 prices did but it is avalaible to all new laptop computers for 2010.
Hard Drive Storage
One of the new technologies that is now becoming a very popular choice for both netbooks and normal laptops is SSD(solid state drive). These new hard drive options are faster than what your using right now. SSD storage operates on flash memory and the highest amount of storage they can handle right now is 250GB but they are working on larger storage amounts that can fit in laptops.
USB 3.0
Unlike the previous USB 2.0 which was pretty quick at 480Mbps, USB 3.0 operates at 5Gbps. The new faster ports will become standard as the year progresses and the beauty of it is they are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so your cables that use USB 2.0 will still work but you’ll need to get new USB 3.0 cables to get the speed of 5Gbps transfer.
