How can i make an ipod touch 2nd gen recognized by my computer?

My ipod touch is dead and nothing is responding. Even my computer won’t recognize it. I tried an jailbreak before and i did it, but when itunes opened i clicked old ipod instead of new ipod. Then i panicked and closed the ipod which was not a good idea. Ever since i made that mistake it is like that.
