Humayun’s Tomb

Situated near the crossing of Mathura Road and Lodi Road, Humayun’s tomb is a mausoleum, built in the memory of that Mughal emperor. Being the first significant model of Mughal architecture in India, this building still holds much importance in history. Haji Begum who was Humayun’s wife had got this magnificent mausoleum built in 1565.

Lodi Tomb

Situated amidst the Lodi Garden in South Delhi, Lodi Tomb is one of those many mausoleums in the city which were built inside a garden. The tomb was built in memory of Sikandar Lodi. Tomb of Bara Gumbad, Muhammad Shah, and Shish Gumbad are also situated there in Lodi gardens.

Qutab Minar

Also known as a tower of victory, Qutub Minar is believed to be the highest stone tower of India. Started by Qutab-ud-din Aibak in 1193, this 73 m and five-storied tall tower was completed after his death. Keeping the safety of people in mind, only two stories of the tower are open for public.

India Gate

Don’t get mistaken by its name as India Gate is a war memorial, built in memory of the martyred soldiers. Jantar Mantar

Out of five Jantar Mantars in India, one is situated near Connaught Place, New Delhi. The astronomical observatory was built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. The other observatories are located in Jaipur, Mathura, Ujjain and Varanasi.

Rajghat

Rajghat where the father of nation rests, is now become a popular tourist destination. Most foreigners never miss to visit this place and bow their heads in honour of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma’s last spoken words ‘Hey Ram’ are also inscribed on the black-coloured memorial stone.

Parliament House

While visiting all the important buildings of New Delhi how can you miss Parliament House which was founded by his Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught in 1921. The huge building accommodates the two Houses of Parliament-Lok Sabha (House of the People) and Rajya Sabha (Council of States).
