Reasons Why You Must Protect Your iPad

iPad came as a fresh wave into a new technology of Apple’s products which was beyond plastic and film screens. The launch of iPad came along with the removal of all the plastic and film screens from all the stores of Apple. Thus the customer was more concerned with the protective abilities of this technology. Well, though the issue is not about the scratches, but the damage that can be beyond these scratches.

If you are a proud owner of one of these iPads and concerned about the protection then you must be aware of the pass-code protection.

Well for those who are not yet aware of the ‘necessity to put this protection on iPad’, we are going to give them the reasons for doing so:

1.Theft:

With the presence of the alluring magical tablet of Apple, these days it is possible to imagine that your iPad is running at a risk of getting stolen at some or the other time. We need to think seriously about the issue as the iPads are not only costly or brand recognition but also a passion for the new age techies who don’t want to compromise on quality of their music and applications.

Though it is true that a pass-code cannot control or resist the physical theft, but it will certainly deprive the thief from getting access to your applications! This way your data can be safe from being misused.

2.Maintain the privacy:

One might be having several functional or application attachments with your tablet, but this is sure that nobody ever wants to allow any outsider to intrude into their own privacy. The information once leaked can be harmful for the owner, if reached in the hands of defaulters of mischievous elements of society. This private information can comprise of: contact details, personal chats over the email messages, saved passwords or email accounts, private content, or other details etc.

That is why it becomes necessary to save the data and not allow the easy access to the outsiders. You need to have set the password for this protection.

3.Easy data retrieval:

Even in the case of hacking, there is a minimal chance that you can get your iPad back to you. In that case you will be able to retrieve the data easily if you have a safe pass-code protection on it. You can easily get the data saved back and use it for future purposes. This way all your data and cookies, user history and favorite settings will be safe.

4.Saving from application damage:

Your applications are a costly asset on your iPad. The safe passcode will not only secure from the theft but also will provide a shield to the applications from being damaged by others. With a safe passcode, you will be able to have the entire control of your iPad in your hands.

Thus, the above mentioned measures should be kept in the mind while next time you behave negligent towards your iPad protection. Be a smart and safe user!

Large-caps Gold & Biotech Where All the Action Is

There are very few stocks that are actually doing great in this market. If the main stock market averages go up, it’s mostly because of large-cap, dividend-paying stocks that are more heavily weighted. There is an opportunity in this kind of market, however, for momentum trading, particularly if you have a stock that’s already gone up and is trading right around its high. Because so few stocks are what you’d consider to be outperforming, larger traders are rallying around these kinds of positions due to the fact that there are so few in the marketplace at this time.

For the most part though, trading action in equities can be considered quite muted in the absence of a defined trend. The story continues to be about large-caps and will likely remain this way for the rest of the year.

Stock picking in this kind of environment is tough for new positions, especially before a new earnings season begins. That’s why there’s no rush for investors to consider new positions as far as I’m concerned. Event-driven trading will soon be upon us and speculators should look for corporate visibility that beats previous estimates. It’s unclear how much appetite the broader market has for upward price moves in stocks, but I think it’s reasonable to conclude that a lot of investors have been sitting on the sidelines during the lull between earnings seasons.

The gold and biotechnology sectors are some of the best areas in this market for risk-capital speculators. I don’t see the spot price of gold following the trend in the oil market, and biotechnology always trades on its own news (discoveries, drug approvals, etc.) regardless of sentiment. But, as we all know, there’s no wind at our backs. It’s not that kind of market at this time and there’s no catalyst for investors to rally around. That’s why earnings season can’t come soon enough.

The stock market’s already betting that the technology sector will underperform in the second quarter. A lot of investors also aren’t expecting much from large financial institutions, which still have a lot of bad debt to deal with on their books. Again, the most important index to keep an eye on is the Dow Transports. This is the single best benchmark for the stock market’s overall health. If the railroads begin to fall apart, then so will the rest of the stock market and the economy.

With the economy slowing down, anything is possible over the coming quarters. This means that we could experience another technical recession. One thing I don’t expect is runaway growth, because the fundamentals just don’t support it quite yet. The economy hasn’t corrected itself from the housing meltdown and, in my view, it can only really accelerate in a sustainable way once the excess inventory in the system is taken up and real estate prices move higher. This is why large-cap, dividend-paying stocks will be some of the best performers in the stock market. There isn’t enough economic growth for big capital gains just yet.

Defining Dial-up Internet

Dial-up Internet is the dinosaur of internet connections. Dial-up internet is the way most people connected to the internet in the beginning of home computers. The term internet is really a shortened form of internetworking but only internet is used today.

A very short history of the Dial-up Internet:

This form of internet connection basically became available when inventors and other people came up with the concept of standardized protocols in 1982. Then next major step to this type of internet connection was the break up of the Bell system in 1984. This then put the nation’s telephone system into the hands of free enterprise. And with this came private research money and lots of interest which fostered much development. This interest came from people and companies all over the world who then enhanced the dial-up system of internet connections. These connections are via POTS lines, or, Plain old telephone service!

Most phones are really simple analog devices. They send a telephone number to the telephone switch which directs a connection to a router. This is an application of a PSTN or Public Switched Telephone Network. A modem is a short name for modulate-demodulate. A modem sends and receives data between two computers using PSTN to carry the data for the end user.

Thus the dial-up connection to the internet entered the general publics’ homes because they all had a simple analog device or telephone with POTS lines.

The external technology or infrastructure was already in place. With this in place, all that was required was the technology that could be applied to thousands of home computers.

With the advent of dial-up technology the country was invaded with personal home computers. Compared to today these units were big and slow. Just as was the connectivity ability. It was really bad when everyone got home from work and turned on their computers. Boy did that take a long time to connect. You had to sit and wait as the screen repeatedly showed redialing the connection. And of course you could not use your telephone line when the computer was connected.

Dial-up technology is still used today. There are ways that you can use dial-up connections and also use your telephone. It’s all a matter of technology. Dial-up connections is cheaper. It used to be that incoming calls were free so actually a dial-up connection was cheap. It is still cheap today. It is also the form of back up for most other types of internet connections. You can program your computer to go to dial up with a few modifications. Of course you do have to have a telephone line. A lot of homes today do not have a telephone with a permanent telephone connection; they have since evolved to cell phones and no land lines. So those POTS lines may not work any more.

Dial-up connections are still used in rural or remote areas where DSL or a cable line service is not available, with the satellite internet connection an option.
