What’s new in the Google search engine?

Google, the alternative name of Search, is presently enjoying the lead position with 65.6% share, whereas Yahoo and Bing reported 17.5% and 10.3% share in the November month. Recently, the company has been expanding beyond its search engine and released its Smartphone, softwares, netbook, web based apps and web browser. However, the company is also working on various up gradation in the search engine.

The company has released various new features in a demo event at the Computer History Museum. The new features restore people’s faith in Google as a major innovator. Here, the feature discusses new technologies incorporated in the website.

Google Real-Time Search

Last month, the company had introduced real-time search integrated into search results pages. Now, users can find fresh search results pushed live to the search results page, with a pause button above that section of the page. The new search updates will be collected from the Web like live tweets, Yahoo Answers, MySpace updates, Facebook public profiles, news articles and Web pages. The new service runs on mobile devices too.

Google also said that technologies like personalization and localization will be used for future real-time search. Besides Google, Bing also featured the real-time search capability, which already integrates real-time Twitter and Facebook results. Unlike Google, Bing provides more real-time results on wider range of topics, but their utility have any value is left for you to decide.

Google Goggles

As the company continues to innovate something new for its search technology, it has expanded beyond browser-based text search to include voice and image searches. The new Google Goggles, an image-based search service, which permits users to present a picture and get web-based search results pulled from Google’s 1 billion images.

Presently, the experimental service will be available only on Android-powered smartphones, but it will be available on Chrome web browser in future. However, the company has not included any facial recognition until privacy concerns are figured out.

Near Instant Voice Translation

Besides, pictures in Google Goggles, the search giant has announced a new feature through which users can search the web via voice and also offers near-instant translation. Meanwhile, the initial prototype can handle only English to Spanish language and handles the app through the cloud via your mobile phone. However, the company predicts to have
support for all the world’s major languages by the end of 2010.

Location based search via Suggest

Google Suggest, which is the drop-down list of suggested keywords that appear under the search box as you type. But, now it is modified according to the location of the user, for example two different countries will show different results after typing any letters in the search box.

Near Me Now app

The new Near Me Now feature for mobile phones will provide you points of interest in the nearby geographic area after figuring out your location. For example, it can tell you about the nearest store with a product required and about its availability. It can also tell you about categories like restaurants or stores on the front page of your Android phones.

Sell on facebook – Its Quick and Simple

Online shopping has been greatly hyped in the last few years with everyone opting for e-commerce as it saves a lot of time and energy too and all that people want in their busy and hectic lives is an easy medium or a short cut to do things which are not negotiable. This, they feel will give them more time to spend quality time with dear ones as their otherwise busy life doesn’t allow them to do so. However, they would appreciate the fact that e-commerce was a little more personalized and they buyers and the sellers had a little more connection and recognized each other the next time they shop. Keeping these pointers in mind, zozolo has come up with this unique feature that enables you to Sell on facebook.

Facebook is one forum, a social networking site where every individual loves to connect with those they know, wishes to stay connected with and of course, it is a platform which enables you to build new connections. This is highly beneficial when you think of putting up a shop on facebook or wish to Sell on facebook. You can sell a variety of commodities like accessories, dresses, shoes, watches, gadgets etc. There is no limit to your dreams here and all you need to get started is open a fan page on facebook. You can send invitees to people so that they join your group and they can help the chain grow by passing it on to friends and friends of friends too.

If you aspire to Sell on facebook, you need not fret and worry. It is highly simple and easily accessible too. if you wish to cater to a the needs of a select group only, you can customize your fan page too and the advertisements can be customized as well, simply so that it draws only those followers you wish to have.

If you are thinking that you might want to open a complete store on facebook, you need to maintain a few things on your site so that those visiting your page get a clearer view. For example, product images, guaranty and warranty of products, terms and conditions applicable, mode of payment, customer preferences and information and live support should be lent to customers via e-mail or chat when you decide to Sell on facebook.

Getting a Facebook Sign Up Account

The first step is to have a forecast and reason of opening the account. In this respect, your choice of a unique username is highly and very important. Settle for a username that reflects who you are, by so doing, people that knows you would be able to add you as a friend and keep up with all your updates. For example, you can use your name for the Facebook Sign Up or your Facebook login Account.

The second important aspect is the choice of the type of password you will need for the Facebook Sign Up. I’d suggests that your password should be long tailed with alternating numbers and alphabets. Even, to make it stronger, you can settle for the combination of both caplock and small letter words. With this two factors, your Facebook Sign Up is almost complete.

With this development, I concur to the fact that Facebook is very much indispensable both as a social networking website and a high profile business epicentre for profitable marketing integration.

Facebook as a social networking website

Facebook is no doubt the world’s number one social networking website. Their structure is advanced in a way that makes it appealing to both visitors and their users. The design is very simple, with clarity of purpose and vision embodied.

Compared with the likes of Twitter, Hi5, MySpace, Delicious, Digg, Stumbleupon e.t.c., all of them are in no march to be compared with Facebook.

However, Twitter which came up of recent compared to the rest has grown tremendously; however, I don’t see Twitter competing with Facebook. The reason being that: no clear commercial inclination is attached to twitter. The structure of twitter will make it difficult to have the type of advertising/ commercial inclination that both Facebook and Google embraced. I think this is one of the reasons why despite repeated offer to Google to buy twitter, Google is not really responding.

Facebook changed the entire structure of how social networking was seen back in those days. Their platform allows you to be connected with old friends and they help suggest events, birthdays and even allowing you to pull up contacts from your email address.

Their chat room is advanced and well structured compared to the rest social networking websites. Some do not have such additional features and even if they do, it’s not as easy, friendly and unique as Facebook chat.

Facebook as a backlinking Tool

The web savvy marketers understand the importance of backlinking. Backlinking simply entails the process whereby a link to your website is placed on another site, with the aim of visitors or users on that site to link through to your website. In essence, drawing traffic to your site through the link placed.

Now, in the world of backlinking, not all sites give you a good result of traffic to your site. There are some sites which are called Authority site.

How to Use Social Media Tools to Achieve Web 2.0 Optimization

The Internet is changing and the changes are happening quickly. Luckily, the changes are in the favor of entrepreneurs, small businesses, authors, and small presses. Welcome to Web 2.0 and social media.

Learning about and utilizing these new tools and technologies is essential to establish a dynamic and truly connected Web presence. The beauty of Web 2.0 is that it is driven by the people who use it. Unlike today’s Internet, Web 2.0 relies more on a site’s popularity among the masses. Incorporating social media optimization alongside search engine optimization enables anyone to establish a truly optimized Web presenceespecially if paired with a meaningful message.

The tools available to achieve this optimization are numerous but can seem overwhelming. However, once armed with a general knowledge, it is easy to select the tools and technologies to catalyze the greatest amount of Web traffic.

According to Wikipedia, Web 2.0 “refers to a perceived second-generation of web-based communities and hosted servicessuch as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomieswhich aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.” Additionally, Wikipedia defines social media as “the online technologies and practices that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives. Social media sites typically use technologies such as blogs, message boards, podcasts, wikis, and vlogs to allow users to interact.” Thus, Web 2.0 and social media optimization means optimizing one’s Web presence in three general ways: Interactivity, Sharing, and Collaboration.

Interactivity

The essential premise of social media is that information (media) offered to users will be interactive. Social, in a word, means interactive and interactivity can be accomplished in many ways, whether it is allowing readers to comment on or share content, subscribe to it so they can have it on hand, or display the content on their own site.

To make online content more interactive, Web 2.0 and social media users can implement these tools and technologies:

* Blogging, using WordPress or Typepad

* RSS Feeds (see Feedburner for more information on RSS feeds)

* Podcasting and Vidcasting

* Wikis

* Social Media News (Press) Releases

* Social Media Newsrooms

* Image tools such as Snapshots

Sharing

Sharing in the “live” Web means that content is offered to others through blogging indexes and media communities; by tagging interesting sites on social bookmarking sites; or by developing mini applications like widgets or mash-ups.

Remember: Anything that can be posted to a Web site will have some type of “media community” in which to share it.

To begin “sharing” content in the live Web, Internet users can:

* Include their Blog, Podcast, or Vidcast in directories like Technorati, Google Blog Search, Podcast.com, or BlogPulse

* Tag their favorite blogs and Web sites on social bookmarking sites like Technorati and del.icio.us

* Share and tag multimedia in Media Communities like Flickr and YouTube

* Use Collage tools or Webcasting like SplashCast Media or blogTV

* Create and distribute Widgets or Mash-ups using services like widgetbox, Open Social, or Yahoo Pipes.

Collaboration

Web 2.0 and social media users need to be willing to give back. This could mean commenting regularly on others’ content, joining and contributing to a social networking site, contributing to crowd-sourced news sites, or becoming an avatar in a virtual reality.

Specifically, some of these efforts may include:

* Commenting on others’ blogs (using co.mments is a good way to track them)

* Contributing to crowd-sourced news aggregators like reddit, Digg, or Fark

* Creating profiles on social or professional networking sites like LinkedIn, MySpace, or Facebook

* Participating in microblogs like Twitter or Jaiku

* Posting events in social calendars such as eventful.com, or upcoming.org

* Becoming an avatar in a virtual world like Second Life or There

* Participating in communities or forums like a Yahoo group, a Google group, or starting your own using services like Ning.

Participating in the new, live Web is ultimately about connecting with people. A common mistake businesses make is to apply old methods to these new tools. It has been disastrous for many of them. With a real and conversational message and general understanding of the new social media tools and technologies, anyone can participate in the new Internet and find tremendous benefit from their efforts!
