As the summer comes to a close for many school-age children, busy parents are challenged to guide them back into a more structured rhythm. Oftentimes we choose convenience over quality and, due to our often perceived lack of time, we spend more than we should on back to school items. Going back to school doesn’t have to break the bank if you follow a few guidelines:

• Monitor your Sunday circulars for sales on school supplies. You needn’t rush out to the mega office supply store at the mall for items you might get cheaper at your local drugstore.

• Sit down with your child to discuss a clothing budget for the school year. Give him or her jobs around the house to compensate for more expensive attire he or she may really need. Back to school can be a tense time, especially if facing an entirely new situation such as a new school or set of friends. It can also be fun for everyone with a little preparation in anticipation of a whole new year of possibilities and learning.

Individuals, of all different ages, enjoy meeting and communicating with other internet users. Despite the fact that individuals of all ages use the internet to socialize, there are certain groups of individuals that do more than others. Those groups of individuals include students, both high school students and college students. The creators of Facebook state that this is for your own safety. Although it is safer for your profile and personal information to be viewed by a small number of individuals, you may not necessity want it to be that way.

Although a large amount of focus is placed on high school students and college students, Facebook has added another popular feature to their website. That feature is workplace networks. By joining a specific workplace network, you will be granted access to other community members who work for the same company as you. This feature is nice, especially since many companies have become large corporations or expanded across the country. You may be able to make contact and become friends with a long-distance coworker that you never knew you had.

Another aspect of Facebook that you may find inconvenient is their lack of available information, before you decide to become a community member. When viewing their online website, which can be found at http://www.facebook.com, it is hard to tell whether or not the site is free to use. Most online social networking sites will make this known right upfront, but Facebook does not. Aside from the price, you should easily be able to obtain additional information on Facebook, before making the decision to become a member. This additional information may include how Facebook works, why you should become a member, how the invite process works, and general rules and restrictions that are in place.

If you are interested in joining the Facebook community, you should do what you should do with all other social networking websites, research. By taking the time to research and examine everything that Facebook has to offer, you should be able to decide whether or not this popular networking community is what you were looking for. There is a good chance that it will be, but if not, do not worry. There are literally an unlimited number of other social networking websites that you can join.

How iPhone apps make our life easier

By now, most of us are aware of the iPhone and it’s ever expanding selection of applications known as ‘apps.’ The iPhone app store currently boasts a selection of over 150,000 apps, many of which fall into the categories of either time savers or time wasters. In this article we will examine some ways in which iPhone apps can help us save time, waste time and make our lives a bit easier in the process.

1)      They ease frustrations – Sometimes all you need in life is a little distraction. Studies have shown that taking small breaks from work or other potentially frustrating activities can result in more productive returns to those activities. The next time you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed or in need of a break, take a browse through the app store. There are many classic games from video game consoles of yesteryear, as well as a wide selection of new and innovative games and applications across all genres and subjects. While a browse through the app store can be as effective as a purchase when it comes to relaxation, with all of the free games and demos available, there is no reason not to download one and start playing!

2)      They solve problems – If you are lost, there is an iPhone app that will get you home. If you are hungry, there’s an app that will guide you to the nearest restaurant. You can even filter the restaurants based on feedback provided by your peers. There are apps that will allow you to log into your home computer from anywhere in the world, shop at one store while you’re in line at another,  and even pay your bills while out at dinner. Multi-tasking and problem solving with the aid of an iPhone has become a way of life for millions of people around the world.

3)      They teach us – There are iPhone apps for learning foreign languages, elevating your higher brain functions, and figuring out geometry. You can even find several apps that are designed to help develop your musical ear. The next time you come across a subject you are interested in learning more about, check the app store for a relevant app. You just might find a game or program that both entertains you and increases your grasp on the subject.

Nintendo Games

In September 2005, Nintendo released a second redesign of the Game Boy Advance. This model, dubbed the Game Boy micro, is similar in style to the original Game Boy Advance’s horizontal orientation, but is much smaller and sleeker. The Game Boy micro also allows the user an ability to switch between several colored faceplates to allow customization, a feature which Nintendo advertised heavily around the Game Boy micro’s launch. Nintendo also hoped that this “fashion” feature will help target audiences outside of typical video game players, much like its new Wii. Unlike the previous Game Boy Advance models, Game Boy micro is unable to support Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles.

Nintendo’s competitors in the handheld market were the Neo Geo Pocket Color, Bandai Swan Crystal, Game Park 32, Tapwave Zodiac and the Nokia N-Gage. Despite the competitors’ best efforts, nintendo maintained its majority market share with the Game Boy Advance.

To date, Nintendo has sold 80,500,000 GBA units around the world. Over half of those in the Americas and 16 million in Japan at second place.

The Game Boy Advance has become the modern flagship of sprite-based games. With hardware superior to the Super NES it has proven that sprite-based technology could improve and live side by side with the 3D games of today’s consoles. The Game Boy Advance not only has one’s typical platformers, but also a huge collection of SNES-style RPGs. It has also become a popular system for old-school gamers due to the increasing amount of games ported from various 8-bit and 16-bit systems of the previous era. Through the use of flash cartridges and emulators the Game Boy Advance can even play NES and TurboGrafx-16 games, as well as AGI-based Sierra On-Line PC adventure games.

Nintendo owners enjoy a huge selection of Nintendo games from Sport, Action and Adventure to Simulation, Strategy and Edutainment.

The best selling game of all times is Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Released in March 2003 was sold at over 13 million copies.
