For example switching a pc on and off 3 or 4 times daily as oppossed to leaving it on til U sleep

I want to connect the xm satellite radio to my stereo reciever for output to my audio speakers. Can I connect directly from my Direct TV satellite box to the reciever and, if so, how do I make the connections. I need specific instructions. Type of connectors, etc.
