Are environmental organizations working in reality and on purpose to keep the Third World poor?

Any sensible person would never like to see animal and plant species disappear forever, but at the same time everybody should have the means to sustain the basic necessities of life and provide for his/her family. Ever since the beginning of mankind, progress has been achieved through some exploitation of natural resources. This is how western countries have achieved prosperity. In the light of the current global warming crisis, I have the feeling that conservation and environmental organizations have given up on ever enticing western countries into the changes in technology and economic models that can provide solutions to global warming: the situation is so complex and no western country can afford changing its life style overnight. Hence the choice by environmental organizations of easy targets: that is why they push Third World Countries already poorly governed to implement “sustainable development” using cleverly devised tools to allegedly help them preserve nature but in reality cynically aimed at keeping those countries poor and thus preventing them to release more carbon in the atmosphere. Your opinions please.
