Difference between PDF VS HTML

Portable Document Format and Hyper Text Markup Language are the two applications with similar features as a result of which both are simultaneously compared. The use of these computer applications has enabled the users to prepare a number of documents.

PDF is a non-editable file format which is used to store, archive and transmit bulky data from one system to another. The compression algorithms make the transfer of the files easy and smooth. As a result, this computer application is flexible and portable in nature. The advanced security options also keep the contents of the format intact and secure. The security features prevent the users from altering the contents of the document. A person cannot print, edit, view or copy the content of the format. A person can even integrate the multimedia content to the documents. The compression algorithms compress the size of the file or animated graphics in the document. This file format has fewer chances from of getting infected from the computer virus. Therefore, a Portable Document Format is the most secure computer application.

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It refers to a predominant markup language or programming for the web pages. This is a kind of language that enables a user to embed objects and images and create interactive forms. It consists of “tags” which are surrounded by the angle brackets within the content of the web page. It provides a means to create the structured documents.

The difference between Hyper Text Markup Language and Portable Document Format can be considered which distinguishes one from the other. HTML is not scalable where as PDF file format is a scalable application. PDF document has different types of reader navigation controls where as HTML consists of search engines, scroll bar and hypertext for navigation. PDF has embedded fonts whereas fonts are defined by the web page creator in the other application. The former has security restrictions whereas the latter does not have any security restrictions. The former requires PDF reader and the latter requires the browser window. These are the main differences which distinguishes the both the applications.
