After almost a year of rumors, Apple has finally uncovered the Apple iPad. It’s thin, small and weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 9 inch touch screen LCD display. It runs on a 1 GHz “A4†chip developed by the PA semi team. The Apple iPad comes with a 10 hour battery life and nearly a month of standby. It will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB sizes. The Apple iPad starts at $499 for 16GB, 32GB for $599 and $699 for 64GB.

Adding 3G will cost a $130 per model. The Wi-Fi only model will ship in 60 days and the 3G model will come in 90 days.
The Apple iPad comes with a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built-in. Apple will also sell a version with data plans from AT&T inc. in the US: $14.99/month for 250 MB of data or $29.99 for unlimited storage. The Apple iPad will use Apple’s Safari browser for surfing the web. Like the iPod and the iPhone, the iPad can sync with Apple’s Macintosh and Microsoft’s computers. Steve jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching videos than a laptop or a smart phone.

Software’s coming with the ipad includes a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music.
Applications designed for the iPhone can run on the iPad. Apple is also releasing updated tools for software developers to help them build iPhone and iPad programs
