Interrotron Teleprompters hit NYC Just when you thought the world is overloaded with useless gadgets comes a device that makes so much sense you wonder why nobody thought of it before. Here is something really cool. Documentarian and award winning author Errol Morris has devised a teleprompter-like setup in conducting interviews which he has named the “Interrotron.” .The prompter is rigged in front of the camera usually a film camera); however, rather than displaying a written script, it is used to display the image captured by a video camera focused on the interviewer who is positioned nearby.
In this way, the interviewee can gaze straight into the lens of the camera to view Morris’ face while talking instead of off elsewhere.
The camera videoing the questioner can also be arranged with a teleprompter showing the subject (using the video tap output if a movie camera is used on the subject). This allows the two people can perform a simulated but real looking face-to-face interview for the interview . The advantage of this device is to allow the interviewer and interviewee to talk with each other while looking straight into the lens of the camera.Before the creation of the device both people in the conversation needed to look into a cold camera lens rather than directly at the actor in the interview
Even if, the questioner stood directly next to the camera tripod, the person in front of the camera almost always seemed to be looking the wrong way .
This new product is now an standard product found on film interview sets.
