My iPod is showing up as a different one and no music files work. Any suggestions?

I plugged my iPod in and when it comes up on iTunes, it shows up as a different iPod that my brother has. When i play a music file, and exclamation point shows up. I’m confused. If anyone can help that’d be great. Thanks.
