My Toshiba Satellite Laptop keeps overheating and shutting off when I run a game on it. How do I fix this?

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop and whenever I play games on it it overheats and shuts off. It already has a fan inside but it still gets really hot. I’m afraid to take it apart and clean it because I might break something.
