Before I go any further about this monumental landmark, I should let you know that the building was just renamed to the Burj Khalifa shortly after it was unveiled.
The country of Abu Dhabi, basically next door to Dubai, really offered a lot of help last year when the world economy had gone down to a crisis level, and Dubai made the decision to change the name as a way of letting them know just how much they appreciated all the financial help they received.
Anyway, this is a special building that’s truly unlike any other landmark in the world. You’ve probably seen it mentioned on the news, but let’s take a closer look at some of the key highlights that make this the most exquisite building the world has ever seen.
First of all, there are over 160 inhabitable floors. Not only are there this many of them, but there’s apartment space in the building that was selling for nearly $2,000 per square foot at its height.
You read that right – nearly 4 million dollars is what an apartment that is 2,000 square feet would have been sold for. Luckily, the prices have gone down considerably to about half of that, but, WOW, that is some majorly expensive real estate!
There are also a handful of offices and other commercial businesses occupying the rest of the building.
Inside the Burj Khalifa will also be a world class hotel that was designed by Giorgio Armani. There will also be a swimming pool on the 76th floor that makes it the world’s highest swimming pool, as well as a mosque on the 158th floor that makes it the world’s highest mosque.
Another monumental feature is the security of the structure itself, which is virtually unlike anything we’ve ever seen in a building before. Every 25 to 30 levels, there are special floors with their own air supplies and special compositions that make them very resistant to fire.
Our world is certainly a much better place with the Burj Khalifa in it. It is a brand new architectural era that has arrived. Behold the future of skyscrapers.
