A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset

Recently my computer’s memory was all erased (I have no idea how). Thankfully I only use my computer for school work and for my music, itunes and i set my ipod to manual sync. I want to know if there is any way that I can get the songs from my ipod into my itunes. I have been doing research for months now and I am getting really desperate! Please help me.

Sometime when I connect my portable HDD on windows 7, i do get an error message such as my HDD need to be format, but when i plugged a second time it works fine. Maybe there some corrupt data in my HDD, but i want to be sure by utilizing a software (freeware or sharware) that check the HDD.
