MEMBERS OF Apple group, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers announced that they have doubled there investment in the iFund program to promote the development of innovative applications including games for their upcoming gadget iPad.
However, $100 million iFund was introduced in March 2008 to develop applications for Apple’s iPhone. The iFund currently promotes 14 ventures, including prominent Application Store publisher ngmoco and social games pioneer Zynga.
At Menlo Park, California, Kleiner Perkins partner John Doerr announced that the company will double its iFund investment to $200 million, for ipad which will be launched in U.S. on April 3rd.
More than 20 new applications have been prepared for iPad which is backed by the iFund. It will include many interesting games and other important applications.
Till date, iFund supported applications have been downloaded for more than 100 million times from the iTunes Application Store.
Some of the new applications are:
1. Articles for iPad is a novel application that allows you to search for and read Wikipedia articles on your iPad which costs Rs.$4.99
2.Marquee turns your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch into a full-screen banner, so you can even send scrolling messages to all the people at $1.99
3.Mouse Point Pro available on i-tune which allows you to control your computer from your ipad, turns your iPad into a giant track pad or wireless keyboard, and is compatible with both Windows and Apple Mac systems.Costs $2.99
4.Nasty Sounds- You can get crazy sounds and it is very much affordable. Only for 99 cents.
