How do I get my purchased songs back on my ipod?

I just got an Ipod touch. It came with about 30 songs which I decided to delete. When I deleted the ones I didn’t want it deleted everything off of my ipod. Now I don’t have any of the songs I purchased on my ipod. I already tried syncing it but it didn’t work. Thanks!
